Pediatrics

This is one of our greatest areas of focus as a company. We work hand-in-hand with early intervention therapists, school therapists and families to provide quality equipment and service. The items you see here are a few of our favorites, but these are just a small sampling of the products at our disposal.

Forearm Crutches Posterior Walker Anterior Walker

Walkers and Crutches

For those with minimal disability, forearm crutches or reverse walkers can provide the stability needed to be independently mobile. Many children use these products in conjunction with a wheelchair for longer distances due to fatigue.

Gait Trainer with Accessories Gait Trainer Posterior Gait Trainer

Gait Trainers

Gait Trainers are aids to walking which provide more support than standard walkers or crutches. They come in many shapes and sizes and often grow with a child as their abilities progress. Note that the first gait trainer can be used with many accessories or none. This allows the equipment to be used for children at many stages of gait training.

Sit-to-Stand Stander Supine Prone Stander Dynamic Stander

Standers

Standers provide opportunity for the physical benefits of standing at an early age. Please check out our page devoted to standers for a full description of the benefits of standing.

Wraparound Bath Support Adjustable Bath Chair Adjustable Bath Chair

Bath Equipment

Due to trunk instability, many of our clients require support during bathing. Also, transfers into and out of the bath can become challenging as a child grows up. Leg extensions on the equipment can help by reducing the distance that the child needs to be raised and lowered. At some point, a transfer system or bath lift will be required to prevent injuries to caregivers.

Car Seat Style 1 Car Seat Style 2 Safety Vest

Car Seats and adaptive safety vests

Car Seats and adaptive safety vests can be used to improve safety for individuals with behavioral or physical limitations when standard car seats and seatbelts are no longer an option.

Adaptive Strollers

Adaptive Strollers can be very basic or have a seating system and are usually for individuals who are not using the seating for long periods of time. They are usually lighter and more collapsible than wheelchairs, but also are not as modular. In addition, they are not an option for individuals who can self-propel. Some families like to have a stroller or basic manual wheelchair for quick trips or emergencies. A second piece of equipment for mobility is not usually covered when requested for backup, but there are alternative funding programs available through county agencies.

Pediatric safety bed

Pediatric Enclosed Safety Beds

Pediatric Enclosed Safety Beds can be required to protect a child or small adult if they have a risk of falling, roaming or other self-injury. We use a specific questionnaire to collect the information needed to justify their medical necessity.

Manual Wheelchairs

Manual Wheelchairs come in all shapes and sizes. For pediatrics, the biggest challenge is growth. The goal is to have a chair which meets the child’s needs for at least three years without making the chair so cumbersome that the child is not able to propel it. Some manual wheelchairs are not well-designed for self-propelling, such as a tilt-in-space wheelchair. These are intended for individuals who have difficulty doing independent weight shifts.

Power Mobility

To utilize Power Mobility an individual must be unable to effectively propel a manual wheelchair and demonstrate safety in operating the power wheelchair. For those with fine motor control issues, we often design alternative controls specifically for that individual to allow them to control the power wheelchair.

We pride ourselves on creative solutions to your family’s or client’s problems.  Please give us a call to see if we can help provide an assistive technology solution to your issue.
