Standers
Standers are used to prevent secondary complications that result from prolonged bed or chair confinement. If you think you or someone you know could be a candidate for a stander, please let us know. We can work with your physician and therapist to establish if you are a candidate and provide a demonstration of the equipment for you.
The medical benefits of standing include:
- Prevention of contractures (ankles, knees, and hips)
- Improved range of motion (spine, hips, knees and ankles)
- Reduction in spasticity
- Prevention or reversal of osteoporosis
- Improved renal function, drainage of the urinary tract
- Prevention of pressure ulcers through changing positions
